Half-Time/Match: Types of Bets

Almost all Russian bookmakers offer their players to bet on a football match on the outcome of the half/match. That is, the players are asked to predict what the result of the first half of the meeting between the two teams and the entire game as a whole will be. The bettor can bet on the victory of one of the teams or decide that there will be a draw. Let’s take a closer look at what types of bets can be made on such an outcome.

Probable outcomes of a sporting event

Through the bookmaker’s office, you can bet on the following outcomes:

  • W1/W1 – a bet on the victory of the host side in the first half or in the entire game;
  • W1/X – the host side will win in the first half, but the match will end in a draw;
  • W1/W2 – the host side will win in the first half, but the away team will win at the end of the match;
  • X/W1 – a draw in the first half with the victory of the host party in the match;
  • X/X — a draw between the teams at the end of the first half and the game as a whole;
  • X/W2 — a draw in the first half and a victory for the guests at the end of the entire football match;
  • W2/W2 — the victory of the guests both in the first half and throughout the game;
  • W2/X — the victory of the guests in the first half with a draw at the end of the match;
  • W2/W1 — the victory of the away team in the first half and the victory of the host side at the end of the entire match.

Officially, the bet is considered a single bet, but it is very similar to a certain accumulator, because the bettor will have to predict the outcomes of two events at once.

Prediction of half-time/match outcomes

Some bookmakers prefer to bet not on a half/match, but on individual halves and matches. Under this option, bookmakers usually set higher margins. But it is unwise for the player himself to refuse the half/match bet, since the experience of predicting by it will be very useful in the long run.

Of course, bookmakers often play it safe. We should not forget about the bias of assigning the roles of outsiders and favorites in a single fight. But if a bettor is able to analyze, compare facts and make quite probable predictions, then he is able to be “in the black” by betting on a half/match.
